National Police chief, Serhiy Kniazev, has said that the head of the main directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Oblast, Dmytro Tsenov, had tendered his resignation letter. This decision was made in connection with the death of a 5-year-old boy in Pereiaslav-Khmel’nyts’kyi, mortally wounded by the law enforcement officers. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

According to Kniazev, the decision was made after discussion with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov.

In turn, the head of the police of the Kyiv region Dmytro Tsenov said that he was responsible for the actions of his subordinates.

“Therefore, I appealed to the head of the National Police with a report on resignation and I ask the head of the National Police to send me to the most difficult part of our state, namely to the JFO area,” Tsenov said.

In addition, the department reported that the authoroties of the Pereiaslav-Khmel’nyts’kyi police department of the Kyiv Oblast were suspended of performing their official duties; with the question of their continued presence in the police being resolved now.
