VR to hold first meeting of Preparatory Deputy Group

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubiy convenes the first meeting of the Preparatory Deputy Group consist from newly elected MPs.

The meeting will be held today, August 9, at 14.00 in the conference hall of the parliament.

In accordance with the requirements of Part 2 of Article 13 of the Regulation of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives from political parties that have overcome 5% of the electoral threshold, namely: Servant of the People delegated 17 MPs to the Preparatory Deputy Group, Opposition platform – For Life delegated 3 MPs, Batkivshchyna party delegated 2 MPs, European Solidarity delegated 2 MPs and Holos party – 1 MP.

In addition, deputies registered as candidates in single-member constituency by self-nominated deputies may also delegate one representative (from each 15 deputies) to the Preparatory Deputies Group by submitting a written proposal with the appropriate signatures.

As noted in the law on the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada, in order to prepare proposals for organizing and holding plenary meetings of the first session of the new parliament, as well as to prepare draft the corresponding acts, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, and (in case of his absence) the first deputy or deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, will organize the formation of the Preparatory Deputy Group from among the newly elected deputies.
