Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, MP from the Servant of the People faction Roksolan Pidlasa has said that a referendum on the sale of land to foreigners in Ukraine will take place when Ukrainians see how the farmland market works in practice and can draw their own conclusions.
“The referendum will be hold not between the first and second reading, and not immediately after the adoption of the law, but in 2-3 years. People will see how this [the land market – ed.] works, and they can conclude whether they are ready to let in foreign companies and foreign citizens,” the parliamentarian said.
According to Pidlasa, there are two approaches to amending law on the participation of foreigners in the Ukrainian agricultural land market while preparing the bill for second reading.
“First approach – all the provisions on foreigners remain in the bill, and the final provisions stipulates they will enter into force after an all-Ukrainian referendum. The second one – provisions are excluded,” UNIAN quoted the deputy as saying.
As The Journalist reported, Razumkov told about farmland market in Ukraine.
