The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has banned online gambling saloons under the guise of state lottery offices. Tonight, more than 150 establishments all over Ukraine were already closed and equipment worth UAH 46 million was seized, according to the government’s website.
Now, saloons with slot machines will not be able to illegally work under the guise of state lottery, hiding under contracts for the distribution of state instant lotteries. Previously, institutions entered into distribution agreements with operators of state lotteries and, hiding under these agreements, installed video gambling machines, which are prohibited by law, in the premises of saloons.
Now they will not be able to do this, because the government has canceled the licensing conditions for operators to enter into distribution agreements. The government also instructed National Police to check activities of all state lottery operators for compliance with the law on the prohibition of illegal gambling businesses.
