Judge Hendrik Steenhuis during a meeting on the MH17 case at court complex in Schiphol (a suburb of Amsterdam) stated that the materials of the criminal investigation in the case of the downing of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 contain 36,000 pages.
According to the judge, at today’s meeting it is necessary to determine the current stage of the criminal investigation.
“Is the case ready for consideration on the merits or is further investigation necessary – these are the issues that are on the agenda today,” the Judge said.
He also emphasized that the case file currently contain 36,000 pages and a huge number of multimedia files in digital form.
Before the start of today’s meeting it was not clear which of the four accused would personally attend the meeting – none of them appeared at the meeting.
The judge also added that two Dutch lawyers defending the accused citizen of the Russian Federation Oleg Pulatov, for several weeks now have access to the case file for review.
