Acting mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Shamota has said that a new quarantine in the city, which was included to the “red zone”, is being introduced without closing enterprises.
“The State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations heard our arguments. Despite the transition to the “red zone”, work of public transportation will not be stopped in Poltava, and retail establishments, catering establishments and the entire service sector, including fitness centers, will continue to operate as usual. Poltava residents can work without fear of tomorrow,” Oleksandr Shamota commented on the decision of the commission.
Now, despite the “red zone”, only entertainment establishments will stop working in the city. However, Oleksandr Shamota stressed that the situation may change and if the number of cases will increase, the list of “prohibited” institutions may be expanded. Therefore, he urged to adhere to sanitary requirements.
Poltava has reported 1,959 coronavirus cases; 91 people are being treated in the hospital. At the same time, the coronavirus bed fund is 230 beds, 180 of which are equipped with oxygen.
