The militants violated the ceasefire regime 22 times in Donbas over the past day. One member of the Joint Forces was killed, another four were injured.
“On February 18, Russian-led armed formations violated the ceasefire regime 22 times. The enemy shelled Ukrainian positions from 152mm and 122mm artillery systems, prohibited by the Minsk agreements, as well as from 120mm and 82mm mortars, tank weapons, as well as weapon mounted on IFVs, grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms,” the press service of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) headquarters reports.
In the zone of responsibility of the Skhid [East] tactical group, the enemy shelled Ukrainian positions three times: near the settlements of Berezove, Shyrokyne and Pyshchevyk.
In the zone of responsibility of the Pivnich [North] tactical group , Russian occupation forces attacked 19 times: near Krymske from 120mm mortars (61 shells), from 82mm mortars (10 shells), as well as from the armament mounted on an infantry fighting vehicle and from an anti-tank grenade launcher; near Novotoshkivske from 152mm, 122mm artillery systems, 120mm mortars, as well as from the tank weapons; near Horikhove from 152mm and 122mm artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm caliber mortars, and grenade launchers of various systems. Two times the enemy shelled the village of Khutir Vilniy from 122mm artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm mortars, as well as from automatic easel grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.
Two shelling were recorded near Zolote-4 – from 120mm mortars, as well as from grenade launchers of various systems and heavy machine guns. Also, one shelling was recorded near Popasna, Luhanske and Novoluhanske.
“In addition, near the village of Horikhove, the enemy attempted to storm our observation posts. As a result of the military clash, Ukrainian defenders suppressed enemy fire and stopped the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group. The positions of Ukrainian defenders have not been lost,” the headquarters noted.
Units of the Joint Forces gave an adequate fire response and controlled the situation. Later the militants requested a silence regime.
“Yesterday, on February 18, as a result of enemy shelling, one member of the Joint Forces was killed, another four defenders were injured,” the HQ emphasized.
According to intelligence, as a result of the fighting, four militants were killed and six more were seriously injured.
Since the beginning of this day, the Russian occupation troops shelled Lebedynske from 82mm mortars (15 shells) and from grenade launchers of various systems, heavy machine guns and small arms. No casualties among the Ukrainian troops have been reported over the past day.
