The European Solidarity party reacted to the Decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky on simplifying procedure of obtaining citizenship for foreigners who defended Ukraine and for Russians subjected to political persecution in the Russian Federation.

“In our opinion, those who defended Ukraine with arms in their hands have the right to receive guarantees, including citizenship with the whole package of rights and, accordingly, the duties of citizens of Ukraine,” the newly elected European Solidarity MP Mykhaylo Zabrodsky said.

The parliamentarian stressed that during the implementation of the Decree, a clear mechanism for checking candidates for citizenship should be worked out, UNIAN reports.

At the same time, according to the newly elected European Solidarity deputy, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, simplifying the provision of Ukrainian citizenship to Russians who have been persecuted is a very hasty step. She noted that the practice of other states in such matters usually consists in providing political asylum to such persons.

As The Journalist reported, Zelensky simplifies procedure for obtaining citizenship for Russians subjected to political persecution in the Russian Federation.
