The law “On ensuring functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language”, adopted on April 25, 2019, has responded to the request of the Hungarian side to extend the transitional period until 2023”, the statement says.

However, according to the report on the website of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Szijjártóin said inToronto that Hungary recommends the Ukrainian authorities to return to the usual state of affairs in their bilateral relations, meaning that the Hungarian national minority of Zakarpattia is not deprived of previously acquired rights.

According to the Hungarian minister, in that case Hungary is ready to implement a comprehensive economic plan with Ukraine, including financing of the projects on constructing roads in Zakarpattia. For this purpose, the loan program is expected to allocate € 50 million.

It is also planned to open new four checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Hungary.

Meanwhile, Hungary will provide a thousand scholarships for Ukrainian students to study at Hungarian universities.
