Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olha Buslavets and representatives of large German companies during a business breakfast in Berlin outlined that among Eastern European countries, Ukrainian energy market is one of the most promising for implementation of investment projects, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.
“On the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky to invest in Ukraine, German companies demonstrated its readiness for a new partnership in the field of renewable energy, hydrogen and hydropower, bioenergy,” Buslavets said.
She noted that the Ukrainian market is most promising sector for investors.
“Ukraine’s energy sector become more sustainable and understandable for investors. Our segment of renewable energy, hydrogen production, implementation of highly mobile generation technologies, energy storage systems is extremely attractive for investors. The volume of energy market is expected at the level of up to 2 GW for the next few years and to meet this need we will build a new generation on the basis of a competition. German companies with the appropriate experience and resources can participate in such projects. Also we will implement energy storage projects aimed at solving problematic issues of balancing the united energy system in the context of the rapid growth of energy from renewable energy sources,” Buslavets said.
German companies are interested in cooperation in hydropower sector.
Commenting on this, Buslavets said that Ukraine plans to launch a number of projects for the construction of pumped storage power plants, reconstruction of hydroelectric power plants and the development of mini- and small hydroelectric power plants with a capacity from 1 to 10 MW, which should become an important component of energy supply for the regions of Ukraine.
During the meeting of representatives of the German business community were presented renewable energy investment projects, including hydropower, wind energy and solar energy, bioenergy, in particular, the production of bioethanol with a neutral level of CO2 and green hydrogen.
Representatives of German companies were asked to consider the possibilities of using the territories and infrastructure of the spent mines to start new innovative and investment projects.
