Yuriy Vitrenko, Executive Director of Naftogaz of Ukraine, has said that representatives of Naftogaz and Gazprom would hold a meeting to finalize the terms of a new agreement on the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine from January 1, 2020.
“On December 26, the Naftogaz and Gazprom teams will meet to finally agree on the terms of the contracts. Each side has its own draft agreements, but only one needs to be signed,” the Executive Director said.
Vitrenko said that on December 26, the parties will work on a common version of a new transit agreement.
“Once again I emphasize that the common version does not mean that continuous concessions are provided on our part. We will by no means allow Ukraine’s national interests to be compromised. We hope that the parties would be able to agree on the terms of the contracts and complete this process this Friday, December 27. But the work will continue on the weekend, if necessary,” he explained.
