Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC has worked out a probable scenario for zero Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine in 2020, which will help protect the country from gas blackmail.
This was announced by the Naftogaz CEO, Andriy Kobolyev.
“The Gazprom’s interruption of gas transit through Ukraine in January 2020, after the expiration of the current contract, is a quite likely scenario. Of course, we do not want this, but we must be fully prepared for destructive actions coming from the Russian side,” the head of Naftogaz wrote.
According to Kobolyev, the company took a number of measures: in particular, Ukrtransgaz held a meeting of dispatchers and worked out the details of organizing the operation of the Ukrainian gas transmission system in reverse mode, which will be involved in the case of zero transit.
Kobolyev also said that the company is working on to eliminate weak links that could jeopardize the work of the country’s gas transportation system. In particular, the Bar compressor station is being reconstructed, which condition is important for the stable operation of the system in the absence of gas transportation.
As The Journalist reported, Kyiv court to consider case on payment UAH 228 mln premium to CEO Naftogaz Kobolyev on July 1.
