Poland announces date of presidential election

Marshal of the Polish Sejm Elzbieta Witek on Wednesday, February 5, announced the date of the presidential election in Poland, the Polish Radio reports.

To Elzbieta Witek, the presidential election in Poland will be held on May 10, 2020. The second round of voting will be held in two weeks on May 24, if necessary. The start of the election campaign will be announced in the official print edition of the Polish Cabinet of Ministers.

The vice-speaker of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska from the Civic Platform, the leader of the Polish Peasant Party (PSL) Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, representative of Wiosna Robert Biedron, Krzysztof Bosak from the Confederation and journalist Krzysztof Golovnya registered as official presidential candidates.

The current president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, who has been in office since 2015, has not yet announced his desire to run for a second term.
