U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Ukraine William Taylor said US President Donald Trump is not going to pay a visit to Ukraine.

“A trip to Ukraine does not appear on Donald Trump’s schedule so far. Visits of such a level are planned ahead. Would I like such plans to appear? Of course! I want to meet President Trump in Ukraine,” Taylor said in an interview with Yevropeiska Pravda online newspaper.

“The visit of a top official from Washington – not only the president – testifies that one or another capital is important for the US. Such visits always have been some sort of a sign, a signal, not just a symbol!” Taylor emphasized.

According to the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, United States have enough important questions regarding Ukraine.

“The war is still ongoing in Ukraine. The war launched by the Russians. An important thing [for U.S. to do] in these conditions is to show support to Ukraine. This can be done in different ways, and an official visit will be a good decision,” Taylor said.

Taylor also said that Trump and Zelensky will meet soon.

“The most important thing in our relations is that the U.S. continues to provide Ukraine with support – political, economic and democratic. Although the meetings are also important, it’s good that the presidents will meet,” the American diplomat said.

“There will be a brief meeting in Warsaw or in New York: then the presidents will have an opportunity to exchange greetings in person. In addition, you heard the President Trump spoke well about President Zelensky last week and assured that the meeting would take place,” Taylor said.

At the same time, according to the US Chargé d’Affaires, there are no obstacles to the meeting of the presidents at the White House.

As The Journalist reported, USAID will consulate newly elected Ukrainian deputies.
