During the mediation of the Ministry of Energy took place the next stage of negotiations between representatives of energy generating companies and coal mining enterprises.

The purpose of the meeting is to ensure stable supplies of domestic-made coal products to power generating enterprises of thermal power plants and to help coal mines to exit forced downtime.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the State Property Fund, NKREKP, generating companies, the coal industry, and independent miners’ unions.

Acting Energy Minister Olha Buslavets said that the prices, volumes and terms of coal supply to thermal power plants are exclusively the subject of commercial agreements between the parties to the negotiations without the ministry involved.

“The task of the ministry is to ensure reliable operation of the electric power complex in the current difficult circumstances and to create all conditions for the successful passage of the autumn-winter season. It is important for us that domestic coal mining enterprises resume production, and the miners return to work,” she said.

As a result of negotiations, the parties approached compromise decisions on the supply of Russian coal on a competitive basis.

“The Ministry is ready to assist the state-owned energy generating company Centrenergo in resolving the difficult financial and economic situation at the enterprise. I ask you to prepare draft appeals that will help the company in negotiations with state banks to attract credit on acceptable terms. I emphasize that the ministry is ready to act as a mediator in such negotiations,” Acting Energy Minister said.
