Ukrainian political prisoner Steshenko returned to Ukraine

Kharkiv resident Aleksandr Steshenko, who was convicted in the annexed Crimea in 2018, has been released from a penal colony and returned to Ukraine. This was reported by the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Crimea.

Anton Korinevych, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine to the Crimea, met with Aleksandr Steshenko. The latter spent in prison on charges of for allegedly plotting an arson attack on the Mufti’s house, Emirali Ablaev. He was found guilty of part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Deliberate destruction or damage to another’s property, if these acts resulted in significant damage and were committed out of hooligan motives, by arson, undermining, or in another generally dangerous way).

The Crimean Human Rights Organization specified that Steshenko was released on parole.
