World Bank to allocate USD 12 bn to help developing countries to fight coronavirus

The World Bank Group has approved the allocation of USD 12 billion for developing countries to purchase drugs in the fight against coronavirus. This was reported by the press service of the regulator.

The funds will be used to purchase and distribute coronavirus vaccines, tests, and drugs for the treatment of coronavirus among residents of developing countries.

“The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved USD 12 billion for developing countries to fund the purchase and distribution of coronavirus vaccines, tests and treatments for their citizens,” the press release said.

At the same time, World Bank Group President David Malpass noted that equal access to coronavirus vaccines will change the course of the pandemic:

“Access to safe and effective vaccines and enhanced delivery systems is key to alter the course of the pandemic and help countries with disastrous economic and financial impacts move towards resilient recovery,” he said.
