Zelensky signs law on counteraction coronavirus

According to the page of bill No.3219 published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, the law aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus, adopted on March 17, was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

The law introduces a fine of up to UAH 170,000 for violation of quarantine rules; the law also provides for restriction of liberty from 5 to 8 years, if same violation inflicted death of people. The introduction of quarantine now refers to force majeure circumstances, employees of companies and enterprises are allowed to go on unpaid leave for its period.

No penalty will be charged for late payment for housing and utility bills during the quarantine period.

The law comes into force from the day of publication and will be valid for 3 months.
